(Un)Focused Definition Ep. 48: It All Sounds So Good…

It took almost two weeks for this nasty respiratory infection to go away, and today is the first morning I can actually walk around without wheezing, coughing, and otherwise sound like I’m dying. So we’re having a virtual celebration with a bunch of songs I’ve been enjoying that either came in recently or have just been hitting the spot when listening to radio shows or my own playlists. I upgraded my theater system in the basement with a new setup that supports Dolby Atmos, so it’s been a blast listening to a lot of discs I’ve collected over time I can now hear for the first time. I’m not an Atmos convert, but I’ll be honest: left to my own devices this playlist and this weekend would be almost nothing but the new incredible remix for Pink Floyd’s Live at Pompeii, so if you want an alternative to this week’s playlist you can just spin that over and over and over…

(Un)Focused Definition Ep. 15: Horror Hiatus (A New Definition Shuffle)

9/22/2024 UPDATE: Don’t ask me how, but in my bleary, exhausted attempt to get Episode 16 out on time, I somehow wrote over Episode 16’s post instead of simply copying the post and using it as a template. So the TL;DR version: for the rest of September and probably most of October I will be participating in the annual Hooptober Horror Marathon, watching and writing reviews for 34 horror films based on a number of rules and criteria that change each marathon. In the meantime I’ll still be getting these playlists out, and will try to do a few capsule reviews in the meantime.

(Un)Focused Definition Ep. 1: Recent Acquisitions

Welcome back to (Un)Focused Definition, a weekly series where I put together a playlist of tunes around a theme of my choosing. I’ve been thinking about the format for this thing, and we’re going to keep it pretty short, focusing on the music with maybe a little commentary about the selected tracks. This week we’re looking at recent acquisitions. I just turned 51 a few days ago, and surprise (not): most of my gifts were records. We’re all over the map with jazz, classic rock, prog, and black metal so let’s build this thing and get the weekend started, huh?
