(Un)Focused Definition Ep. 27: Bandcamp Friday

Here is the long and short of it: yes, since taking ownership of Bandcamp, both Epic Games and now Songtradr have done some incredibly shitty things to the small company that provided a space for artists to publish and sell music and merch. It’s absolute ass to lay off half the staff, including the person who came up with Bandcamp Friday, a periodic day started during the COVID pandemic where the company would forego its revenue share so that artists could take in a little more money during hard times. At the same time, artists are still there, and since they can get a larger cut there than say, Amazon or other mainstream outlets, I have zero problem supporting the music I like through the platform. If a better system comes along and the artists I love move to it, I’ll be there. In the meantime, I’ll keep using it to support the music I love. Like the tracks below.
