Although technically we’re not even there, yet. I only just got the home page sorted (although I still need to configure some of the categories, like Playlists which despite having 85 posts still doesn’t come up on my navigation panel), and I haven’t even begun to look at the individual post page…or the band index…or the contact and search function…does this site even have a search function at this point?! Regardless, despite the chaos of the site refresh and ongoing work disasters, I discovered a ton of great music thanks to good friends, so let’s get to it.
- Robyn Hitchcock & The Egyptians – “Unsettled”
- Vulture Feather – “Blood Knot”
- Winged Wheel – “More Frog Poems”
- Earth Tongue – “Dungeon Vision”
- The Minders – “Hooray For Tuesday”
- The Sunshine Fix – “Everything Is Waking”
- Neutral Milk Hotel – “In The Airplane Over the Sea”
- Hällas – “The Emissary”
- The Soft Boys – “I Got the Hots”
- The Grateful Dead – “Weather Report Suite (Live Nov 30, 1973)”
I didn’t know Robyn Hitchcock was such a huge blind spot until my friend Erik introduced me and our buddy Baxter to the wonders of A Globe of Frogs. Baxter in turn introduced me to the jangly power of Winged Wheel and Vulture Feather, a band I originally wasn’t into but late last night clicked with big time.
Bands like The Minders, The Sunshine Fix, and the crazy popular yet I never heard before a few days ago Neutral Milk Hotel came about from my deep dive into the Elephant 6 collective where I was planning on reviewing The Olivia Tremor Control earlier this week before the fiasco of the deciding “how long can it really take to slap a fresh coat of paint on the site?”
Finally, RIP to the incredible Bob Weir. Believe it or not, the first Grateful Dead album I ever owned was Dick’s Picks Vol. 14, and their rendition of Weir’s “Weather Report Suite” was the first Weir tracks I fell in love with.

Be safe, be good to each other. See you next week.
