I have a number of things to write and get done, but this weekend it’s going to be below 0 again, so the new plan is to grab two books, a couple dozen records, and copious amounts of coffee. Maybe, just maybe we’ll start another series of Taskmaster. But primarily it’s gonna be a recharging weekend. This is some of the soundtrack. It goes in a lot of different directions, but so do I. Like that title. It could mean a lot of things, but the truth is I looked to my right as I was setting up the post and saw the Robert Heinlein novel sitting near the top of the stack of books next to my desk.
- The Eric Gales Band – “Changes In Emotion”
- Blackwater Holylight – “Involuntary Haze”
- Plantoid – “Parasite”
- Wo Fat – “Descent Into The Maelstrom”
- Frank Zappa – “Advance Romance”
- Kosmodome – “Deadbeat”
- Tusmørke – “Svensk drøm”
- Ragana & Drowse – “In Eternal Woods Pts. 1-3”
I remember getting the debut album from The Eric Gales Band on cassette when it first came out in 1991…and that production is a constant reminder of its time period. The music though still rocks, and Gales’s incredible style is already close to overwhelming at such a young age. The Frank Zappa track comes from Bongo Fury, his 1975 release with Captain Beefheart and the next on the list to get the deluxe box treatment.
The rest is an assortment of stoner, prog, psych, and a little atmospheric black metal which I love on a cold winter morning like this one. There’s a lot of jazz, too. But I’m saving that for another playlist, another week.

Be safe, be good to each other. See you next week.
