That it, that’s the concept. Last week I had to drive all over God’s Green Earth™ to get my non-driving son to see his girlfriend; next weekend I have to drive him back to college. So THIS weekend I’m staying put. No getting out of bed. My wife has agreed to coffee runs, I have her laptop, charged headphones and this is the playlist that resulted. Mostly some new stuff that arrived, recommendations from friends, and some old companions. Let’s get into it so I can snuggle back down and get another cup of that liquid heaven in my body.
- Hawkwind – “Levitation (Live at the Royal Albert Hall, 2023)
- Brewer & Shipley – “Witchie-Tai-To”
- Minutemen – “I Feel Like a Gringo”
- Sault – “Love Does Not Equal Pain”
- Bronson Arm – “Vestigial Tail”
- Steve Hackett – “Spectral Mornings”
- Beggar’s Opera – “Time Machine”
- Black Sabbath – “Electric Funeral”
- Green Lung – “Leaders of the Blind”
- Led Zeppelin – “In My Time of Dying (Live at Earl’s Court)”
Bookended by recent live releases, some heavier fare both new and old, some very new music in Sault, which already feels like a 2026 EOY contender. The Beggar’s Opera and Steve Hackett were new arrivals in the house along with some Pharaoh Sanders and Andrew Hill (thanks Erik!) and the Brewer & Shipley was due to them being the most recent discovery and conversation in my text thread with a few of my music buds.
Be safe, be good to each other. See you next week.
