Well, here it is. Maybe just a little bit more coffee-forward than before, but everything else? Pretty much the same. I wanted to get a better view of what Consuming the Tangible has to offer, despite my continued reluctance to actively promote the site. I do still think of it as my personal space to wrestle and reckon with the music I purchase, and what it says about me. I’m still juggling how much about what it says about translating to the page, versus internalizing it and simply writing reviews here. I enjoyed the stream of thoughts the recent more eaze/claire rousay review brought up as I wrote, and hopefully more of that can come across in my writing.
As I write this it’s early Saturday morning, all my playlist work is done, and despite the massive stack of vinyl sitting next to me to still cover, and the Best of 2025 column I plan to write later today (crap, I also have a James Bond article to write for Cinema Dual), I’m listening to The Groundhogs decimate the Poconos back in 1972. If you’ve been reading the site for a while you’ll know this is par for the course, and I’m slowly becoming more and more okay with that. The one thing I’ve definitively learned writing about my music collection going on seven years now (just here, I’ve been writing – terribly – online since about 2005) is that meandering, being open, and following the leads of others up to the point you no longer need to has opened my ears to a world I still sometimes have to push away, but now it’s usually with a note to come back, poke and prod, and maybe take another taste.
I do appreciate everyone who has contributed to the conversation, whether you’ve commented, read, or suggested avenues to pursue. I don’t see any reason to change things up, and I hope this site becomes even more broad in what it covers. Come on in, look around, and see if anything strikes your fancy.
I promise I’ll get to this stack. Eventually.
